Care Instructions
Care Instructions
DANE Jewellery is all handmade and needs to be looked after. Some pieces are very delicate and extra care should be taken when worn.
Always protect your jewellery from scratching, chemicals and sunlight. Please do not swim or shower with your jewellery as chlorine and soap can cause damage and reduce the lifespan of gold-plating in particular.
Please be aware that chemicals in your perfume, moisturisers, nail polish removers, hairspray etc may tarnish or damage jewellery. Tarnish may also occur as a result oxidation, caused by the interaction of silver or gold plated jewellery with certain elements such as oxygen or sulphur as well as with certain acids. We therefore recommend you keep your gold and silver pieces in our soft pouches or DANE Jewellery boxes.
Gold & Silver Jewellery
We find a silver cloth works well on our sterling silver, a mild dishwashing detergent diluted in water and a toothbrush or a professional jewellery cleaning product. Always thoroughly dry your silver jewellery after exposure to water.
Gold Plated Jewellery
Our gold vermeil nuggets consist of pure silver, plated with 1 micron of 18 carat gold for strength, then followed by 2 microns of 24 carat gold with 6 additional microns of protective coating. All our vermeil nuggets exceed FTC standards.Although our gold plated jewellery has a heavy layer of 18 carat gold (5 microns) on sterling silver, we recommend you do not wear gold plated jewellery everyday or when swimming or showering to ensure a longer lifespan. Please do not use a jewellery cleaning product as it may remove the gold if it is too harsh. We find the best way to keep your gold plated jewellery sparkling is to use a mild dish washing detergent diluted in water.
